Le Cadeau 2004 Tasting Notes
and Specifications
(SOLD OUT)
There
were 3 unique cuvees created in 2004 from designated fruit within our
estate vineyard.
Rocheux
The “Rocheux” cuvee fruit comes from
the rocky west side of the vineyard. Due to the stressed vines and the
“due south” aspect of the blocks, Rocheux fruit is typically the first
to be harvested. The wine offers bright flavors of cherry, strawberry,
and dried red cherry, mingled with minerality and Asian spices.

Cote Est
The
“Cote Est” cuvee fruit comes from the cooler and more fertile east
side of the vineyard. In 2004, a portion of the fruit was harvested very
early, (September 17th), while the remaining 75% was left on the vines
until October 1st. Cote Est is a beautifully aromatic wine with flavors
reminiscent of chocolate covered strawberries – bright red fruit flavors
from the “first pick”, and rich blue-fruit (black cherry and plum) from
the very ripe later-harvest. (205

Diversite
“Diversite” is named for the diverse selection of Pinot Noir clones
that comprise this cuvee – Dijon 113, 115, 667, and 777, along with
Mariafeld and Pommard. Following an extended cold soak, the wine was
fermented in French oak fermenters using natural yeasts from the
vineyard. This unfiltered wine has deep aromatics of dried cherries and
carmelized sugar. The 15% component of Mariafeld, (a Swiss clone of
Pinot Noir), adds unique spice and flavor elements. The texture is
smooth and viscous while flavors of cherry, black cherry, and a trace of
fig linger on the palate. (164 Cases
