2005 Vintage
In 2005 Le Cadeau has
again teamed up with three very talented winemakers to provide a unique opportunity to experience their artistry while working with
fruit from our distinctive vineyard.
Cote Est
¨
The Côte Est cuvee fruit comes from the cooler and
more fertile east side of the vineyard. The nose offers scents
of ripe black cherries and a bit of raspberry. On the palate, the
’05 Côte Est follows in the mode of our 2004 release with flavors of
black cherry, blackberry, and a bit of mocha and espresso. Bottled
in late August, it continues to put on weight, and is starting to
drink well after several hours of airtime. (450 cases
produced)
Rocheux
¨
The Rocheux cuvee fruit comes from the rocky west
side of the vineyard. The 2005 Le Cadeau Rocheux opens with bold
aromas of mixed berries—boysenberry, marionberry, raspberry—and
light scents of coffee and earth. On the palate, the wine is
balanced, focused, and features bright acids and soft tannins. The
flavors include red and black cherries, Asian spices, and the
trademark earthiness from our vineyard site. The ’05 Rocheux
finishes with a hint of vanilla and some lingering oak which will
fully integrate in the months ahead. (230 cases
produced)
Diversité
¨
It’s difficult to describe the lovely aromatics of
the ’05 Diversité. Along with the usual Pinot Noir red fruits,
thoughts of lilac, honeysuckle, anise, and clove come to mind. The
flavors are both delicate and rich all at the same time, and include
black cherry, dried red cherry, as well as loganberries. The
texture is soft and velvety; the tannins are very fine. The
Diversité cuvee is comprised of fruit harvested from the diverse mix
of Pinot Noir clones planted throughout our vineyard.
